Fall Fashion: Black and White

I’m dreaming in black and white! Wait, I’m not dreaming, I’m just seeing black and white in the season’s fashion trends wherever I go! Pairing black and white together can be as easy as a shirt, jeans, and boots. But there are ways to definitely spice up wearing a black and white ensemble!

Like the girls of the hit reality show The Hills, Audrina Patridge and Kristen Cavallari, wearing all black with a pop is a trendy way to not just be safe wearing all black. The white will draw the eye to that area, so make sure you are confident wearing a white piece. Like these two fashionista, pair a white tunic with a black motorcycle jacket, black jeans, and either black heels or boots. Simplicity is key for this look and you will look so chic!

Another great way to wear all black and white is to add a pop of color somewhere whether it bag, scarf, shoes or piece of jewelry. Usually an accessory is a great way to add color to this look and don’t be afraid of neon colors! They are so in right now! Try these great looks and you too will be dreaming in black and white!

A Tisket, A Tassel!

No this is not a green and yellow basket! It’s a bunch of fringe! The newest trend on the Fall Fashion swing is Fringe and lots of it! Fringe accents are so stylish if you are going for an urban boho sense of style or if you have a rugged side waiting to burst out! Adding a little fringe to your wardrobe will give you that daring edge above the rest!

If you are looking to start out slow with just little accents of fringe, try getting a fringe bad, fringe boots or heals. Adding a little flair of fringe will give you a southwestern chicness that will have your friends gabbing “Where did you get that?”

Once you get used to having fringe in your wardrobe, take the next step and be daring enough to wear fringe clothing! Find a great jacket with fringe or a cutoff shirt that has strips of fringe! You can even find fringe shorts from Billabong that are oh-so-cute!

Have no money to buy some fabulous fringe? No problem! Grab an old shirt that you never wear and some scissors, cut down the top of the shirt with the torso version all that’s left. Cut little slits about half way up on the section of the shirt. Gently pull them down and stretch out the fabric and you are ready to wear! The perfect fringe scarf for nothing at all!

All wrapped up in your pile of scarves but have no idea how to wear them! Simple, there are so many different ways to wear a scarf and you can base that on your mood for the day!

The most common way to wear a scarf is to wrap it around your neck with both sides hanging down the front or drape one side down your back with the other side in the front. These are easy ways to wear scarves if you are in a hurry in the morning.

Another fun way to wear a scarf is to wrap it around your neck with a corner hanging down the front. Tuck the ends in for a trendy look!

One of the most popular scarf trends is the infinity scarf that is a circular scarf that is attached to itself! You can simply wear it long or wrap it around your neck two or three times!

Scarves are the perfect accessory for Fall and Winter! Make any regular pair of jeans and a jacket look trendy with any of these ways to tie a scarf! Colors and prints are always fun to look for in a scarf to spice up any outfit! The bolder the better!

Fall Fashion: Layering

Layer it on ladies! With the cool months starting to fall in, layering is the best way to keep warm and stay stylish! Even though your cheeks get red from the fall air, you will stay toasty from head to toe!

The trick is to keep adding it on! For one outfit, grab your skinny jeans and pair with boots, a light top, a casual blazer, and a scarf. If you are dying to wear your favorite skirt but its intimidating by the cold weather. pair your skirt with a pair of tights, boots, a top, an oversized sweater, and a scarf. If its really cold, add a jacket on top.

The newest layering trend to hit the consumer market is to take a cute pair of knee high socks and wear them under a pair of boots! A trick you can also do to recycle and save money, take an old sweater and cut off the arms. Sew a simple loop stitch onto the cut side and wear as socks! Your feet and wallet will thank you for it!

One Fish, Braid Fish!

Fishing for a new hairstyle? Why not try a fishtail braid! This style of braiding was first popular during the 90s and is now making a comeback in summer/fall fashion trends! Make any outfit look a little edgier with a side fishtail braid!

You may be thinking that this is a huge complex hairstyle, but it is actually really easy!

Here’s what you will need:
A brush
A black or clear hair-tie
A few bobby pins

First, you want to brush out your hair so there aren’t an y tangles or knots. Bring it all to one side, I personally like to put it to the side that is opposite my bangs but you can do whatever you like! Separate your hair into two sections. Take a small piece from one section and cross to the other. Repeat this until you start to see a weave forming. Continue to grab sections and cross over as long as you want and secure with a rubber band. If there are any fly-aways that are bugging you just pin them back with the bobby pins!

There you have it! Give the fishtail braid a try sometime and you will be so happy you did!

xoxo!

The 70’s are Swinging Back!

Everywhere in fashion this summer, the 70’s styles are making a come back! Big hair, bright colors, and bold accessories paired with over the top patterns are making their way onto the pages of women’s magazines.

Check out Blake Lively’s photo shoot with Glamor to promote her new role in “The Green Lantern.” Blake looks stunning in polka-dot patterns, thick lashes, and a 70s inspired u-pdo that would put Rachel Welch to shame!

How to get Blake’s Fabulous Up-Do:

What you will need:
1 Brush
1 Comb
A bunch of Bobby Pins
Hairspray

1. Brush our your hair and part to the side that is parts naturally on. If you have a natural center part, part your hair to one side before you go to bed with bobby pins and hairspray.

2. Take your comb and tease your hair at the top and on the side. Hold hair up toward the ceiling and brush down at the roots a minimum of 6 times. Repeat on the sides. Once all teased, smooth your hair out with your comb to get rid of any bumps or parts that may be sticking out.

3. Gather all of your hair in the back into a twist. Bring the twist up in the back kind of like a bun but more of a longer bun.

4. Wrap the rest of your twist underneath the bun and pin it all up so the ends of your hair is not showing.

5. Pin according to to level of volume that you want and even stick a daisy on the opposing side of your part for a little softness or mod earrings to top your 70’s inspired look!
